Car park closures near Building 10

The left hand side of Car Park 6 (adjacent to lawn area in front of Building 10) will be closed as from Wednesday 19th January 2011 until the Library Refurbishment is completed.

The remainder of Car Park 6 will be closed from 1st February 2011 until February 2012, while work continues on Buildings 28 and 29.


The pedestrian path through the centre of the car park and the disability car park beside Building 29 will be maintained.

CQUniversity Rockhampton Library internal demolition commenced

Work on internal demolition of the CQUniversity Rockhampton Library (Bruce Hiskens Building – Building 10) has commenced with Woollam Constructions having been appointed as the building contractors.

The appointment was made after an tender process, which resulted in a high level of expressions of interest being submitted for the project. A full evaluation of the tender was undertaken by the Division of Facilities Management in consultation with Wilson Architects and Director of the Library.Woollams has extensive local experience with delivering commercial buildings under tight timeframes and is currently working on a number of projects for Central Queensland schools, hospitals and TAFE in Rockhampton.

3D 'Fly-through' of new Library

Wilson Architects have provided CQUniversity Library with a 3D "Fly-through" video of the proposed Library entrance and ground floor.

Artist's impressions of building added to website

The Library Refurbishment website now features artists's impressions of both the Ground Floor interior and the Exterior (Western Facade).


The images have been created by Caustic Pictures, Kelvin Grove.

Draft Furniture Plans for all 3 levels are also available.

Lending Collection to move next week

The Lending Collection of the Rockhampton Library will be unavailable from 25 – 29 October, 2010 while it is moved from Building 10 to Building 39.

The Library will remain open for study in Building 10 until Friday, 29 October, 2010, however patrons are advised to take care on Level 1 as the removalists will be moving heavy containers.

This move is earlier than expected, but will mean that both our temporary service points will be open from 1 November, 2010.

The Resource & Access Services staff have already moved to Building 41 and Information Services are expected to move next week. The Secretariat have moved to Building 37.
