Farewell to the orange carpet

Closing Parties
Past and present library staff, as well as invited guests from the university and wider community, enjoyed celebrations on 30 October to mark the 'closing' of the Bruce Hiskens Building for refurbishment.

Director Graham Black and Vice-Chancellor Prof Scot Bowman tied an orange ribbon, 32 years to the day that Princess Alexandra cut the ribbon to officially open the building in 1978.

Website update
On the website, we now have an artist's impression of the Ground Floor Library Hall, created by Caustic Pictures for Wilson Architects. It gives us a good indication of how open and light the space will look, with increased glass windows and a raised ceiling height.
